Every year, the top magazines like Vogue, Elle, and House Beautiful release a few articles telling us about the trends for the year. Now, we think we’re close enough to the end of the year to talk about which of these trends stuck and why people are still chasing them.
Read on for the types of home decor everyone is still chasing and why we think you should consider them for your home.
Bold Colour Design
This is our favourite one – the neutral colour schemes are well and truly out. What we don’t like about this one is that people are so intimidated by it. And we get it – it’s so much easier to style a neutral colour palette home like grey or creams. The bold colour palette, we will admit, is so bold that some people don’t know what to do with it. That’s what Pinterest is for!
Websites like Pinterest will give you tons of inspiration, and then it’s about making it a reality with the items you can find in-store. Well, top tip, you can find most of the items you’re looking for online and we think it’s easier to visualise and shop for home items online.
Deep blue, emerald green, and deep terracotta are the preferred colours, and they can look great.
Rather than telling you what to do with those colours with a detailed explanation that’s tricky to visualise, search for those colours on Pinterest with the words home decor (or the specific room you want to redesign), and you’ll find inspiration.
Scandi Wood Design
The Scandi wood design will always be something we love. Then light wood colours, geometric shapes, and minimalistic decor are the dominant characteristics that we think are super easy to integrate into your home.
This design style heavily features light wood and is often complemented with white or earthy tones that provide a light-hearted and spacious ambience in any area. Oak, birch, and pine have become the basic materials for construction, furniture, flooring, and even wall covers. And you don’t have to spend a fortune to start working the look into your home. A set of new wood internal glass doors is a relatively inexpensive change that switches up the vibe.
The uniqueness of this design lies in the inimitable way it manages to keep the spaces feeling warm, cuddly, and quiet, whilst also being clean and modern.
Again, Pinterest to find more design inspiration.
The Quiet Luxury Design
The quiet luxury was a big one in 2024. This design focuses on being quietly classy.
The design theme is permeated with a touch of luxury, leaving behind all the glam and outlandish themes. It’s more like achieving an impeccable sense of sophistication without resorting to overwhelming theatrics or trends. Beautiful marble surfaces with colouring ‘designs’ that are individually made to fit the house and gentle but nice colours that do the decoration. Expensive, we know, but people went crazy for it.
It is about skill and the quality of details in quiet luxury design. Beige, taupe, and cream create a serene environment, while softer textiles like silk, velvet, and cashmere serve to enhance the richness of a room.
There are so many other designs we could have spoken about – do you have a favourite?
We’re excited to see what 2025 brings and how the trends evolve. But one thing we will say is don’t feel like you have to replicate each trend and spend tons of money. Take bits of a trend you love and slowly work it into your home.
